De-matting Policy

Here at Barkin’ Bubbles animal welfare is our first and foremost priority. The welfare of an animal includes its physical health and mental wellbeing which is encapsulated by the five freedoms and should be adhered to at all times.

The five freedoms
1. Freedom from Hunger and Thirst – by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain full health and vigour.
2. Freedom from Discomfort – by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
3. Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease – by prevention or rapid diagnosis and treatment.
4. Freedom to Express Normal Behaviour – by providing sufficient space, proper facilities and company of the animal’s own kind.
5. Freedom from Fear and Distress – by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.
Therefore only light de-matting will take place, de-matting is not recommended for young, old aggressive dogs or any with certain health issues. This can all be discussed at consultation.
If a dog is brought to Barkin Bubbles which is too matted according to us then we will shave the dog.
Our normal grooming prices do not include de-matting and an additional charge will be added at the time of groom.
